COMMENT: Genesis Bank is a subsidiary of the biotech company General BioTechnology LLC, a small Indianapolis company (no website) which incorporated in 1997 and specializes in cryogenic research and services.

- Because they are a cryogenic research facility, GenesisBank has a unique philosophy of not employing sales staff. Parents who telephone with inquiries will speak to some one who has a scientific background and can answer their questions.
- Parents or physician can choose collection option: gravity drip into a bag or draw into a syringe.
- Laboratory processing is manually performed to reduce volume with Hespan sedimentation.

General BioTechnology was founded with an NIH-NHLBI grant to develop optimized protocols for processing and cryopreserving Cord Blood. They have also received federal grant funding from the SBIR program. The CEO of General BioTechnology, Erik Woods, Ph.D., is with the Dept of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and has published research on Cord Blood preservation. General BioTechnology LLC also has a division, Genome Resources devoted to sperm banking.
