MD - Maryland State Accreditation
Any of the umbilical cord banks should meet Maryland State requirements if they operate, supply or accept the collections from the Maryland State. The umbilical cord bank should also meet such state requirements if it releases Cord Blood units to the Maryland State.

Accreditation required: Tissue Bank Permit
- The permit has to be renewed every year.
- Maryland involves an inspection. Nevertheless, the state accepts Accreditation by private and nonprofit accrediting organizations that are approved by the state (i.e. AABB) instead of the state inspection.
- The umbilical Cord Blood bank should meet some specific requirements for personnel.
- The umbilical Cord Blood bank should also meet states’ specific testing requirements that are designed to cover some contagious diseases.
